Anthony Salewski, Principal, Genstar Capital

Anthony J. Salewski is a Principal with Genstar Capital, helping to identify, evaluate and execute acquisition and investment opportunities.

Prior to joining Genstar, Tony was the Chief of Staff for Operations at Barclays Global Investors (BGI), the world’s largest institutional investment manager, where he reported to the Chief Operating Officer and executed strategic initiatives for the Executive Committee. Prior to BGI, Tony was an Associate at Hellman & Friedman LLC, a private equity investment firm in San Francisco. Tony began his career in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley in New York.

Tony received an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School and graduated with honors from Harvard College.

Jack Salzman, Chairman - Endowment & Pension Committee, Pace University

Jack Salzman, Senior Managing Partner – Formed in 1997, Jack is a principal and founding member of Kings Point Capital Management. He began his career in 1968 as a securities analyst at Standard and Poors. Throughout the 1970’s he worked at a number of small research boutiques where he specialized in consumer product companies.

In 1985, he joined Goldman Sachs. During that period, he became the highest rated analyst by Institutional Investor Magazine’s analyst poll in two different areas (Household Products and Cosmetics). In 2011, Institutional Investor Magazine named only 49 analysts to their Hall of Fame. Jack was ranked as one of the top ten analysts of all time.

At Goldman Sachs, his analyst responsibilities expanded and in 1990 he was named Associate Director of Research. Throughout his tenure at Goldman Sachs, he participated in a variety of investment banking activities as well. By 1994, Mr. Salzman became a General Partner of Goldman Sachs (and Managing Director in 1996) while also rising to the position of U.S. Director of Research Marketing and Product Development. Mr. Salzman was also a member of its Investment Policy and the U.S. Stock Selection Committee.

As a graduate of Pace University in New York, he has been an active contributor to his Alma Mater. In December 1997, he was the fifth recipient of the Lubin Alumni Achievement Award. In 2001, Mr. Salzman joined the Board of Trustees of Pace University. In 2005, he was appointed Chairman of the Endowment & Pension Committee of Pace University.

Jim Scheinman, Founder & CEO, Maven Ventures Growth Labs

Jim Scheinman has spent the last 20 years of his career as an Entrepreneur in one capacity or another. He’s been a founder, executive, angel investor, attorney, mentor capitalist and venture capitalist at many successful Silicon Valley consumer startups. In January 2013, Mr. Scheinman launched Maven Ventures Growth Labs and Venture Fund in Palo Alto to tap into the massive trend of the groundswell of entrepreneurship; and to scale his successful angel investing business, Maven Ventures, which he founded in late 2008. Four of his ten investments since 2008 have achieved successful exits and four others are doing extremely well, like Tango which has over 100M members. Mr. Scheinman was one of the early pioneers of social networking as one of the first employees and the head of BD & sales at the first social networking site, Friendster. In 2005, Mr. Scheinman left Friendster to join co-founders Michael & Xochi Birch to launch Bebo as the first employee and Board member. At Bebo, he was integral in launching the site, raising the venture round, leading the strategy and its eventual sale to AOL for $850M in 2008. Jim has a BSc in Neuropsychology from Duke University and earned a JD at the University of California Davis School of Law. Mr. Scheinman gave a TED talk in Long Beach in 2012 and serves as a speaker and startup competition judge at many consumer startup conferences.

Ari Shiff, President, Inflection Management, Inc.

Ari Shiff is the Founder and President of Inflection Management, manager of the Inflection Strategic Opportunities Fund ("ISOF"). ISOF is a fund of hedge funds formed specifically to benefit Canadian investors. With over 25 years of investment experience, Mr. Shiff leads hedge fund research, and is an executive member of the risk management and portfolio strategy development team for the ISOF.

Since 1980, Mr. Shiff has been the President and Portfolio Manager of Shi-Five Corporation, a private investment vehicle. In 2004, Mr. Shiff converted the private hedge fund portfolio management strategy he co-created in 1996 into KCS Fund Strategies Inc., forming a team to oversee the hedge fund manager selection process and the fund’s overall macroeconomic strategy. In the spring of 2008, Mr. Shiff sold his interest in KCS to his partner and founded Inflection Management to benefit from the upheavals in the markets he believed were imminent.

Mr. Shiff obtained his graduate and post-graduate degrees at Harvard (GSD) and Cambridge (Jesus College) Universities, respectively, and holds a BA from the University of Toronto (University College). Mr. Shiff has a deep interest in Jewish education and has served in multiple leadership roles in Vancouver.

John D. Skjervem, Chief Investment Officer, Oregon State Treasury

John Skjervem is Chief Investment Officer for the Oregon State Treasury (OST). In that role he oversees an investment team that manages a financial and real asset portfolio valued at $80.9 billion as of March 31, 2013 and includes the state’s $63 billion Oregon Public Employees Retirement Fund.

Prior to his appointment at OST, Mr. Skjervem held a variety of portfolio management and leadership positions at Northern Trust including Chief Investment Officer for the firm’s $170 billion (AUM) Personal Financial Services division. Mr. Skjervem started his career as an associate economist for consultants Natelson Levander Whitney, and also worked as a public finance specialist for investment bankers Ehrlich Bober & Co.

Mr. Skjervem earned an M.B.A. with concentrations in finance and statistics from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago, and received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, former director of the CFA Society of Chicago and serves as an honorary board member for the St. Francis Foundation in Santa Barbara, CA.

Mr. Slusky is the founder and CEO of Vector Capital. His areas of expertise include infrastructure and applications software, internet services, corporate spinouts, and technology buyouts.

Before joining Ziff Brothers, Alex was at New Enterprise Associates, focusing on venture investments in software, communications, and digital media. Josh Sobeck, Partner, 747 Capital

Over the past decade with 747 Capital, Mr. Sobeck has been integral in the development of the firm’s investment strategy focused on capturing the full range of investment opportunities in the U.S. small-cap private equity market. As a member of the firm’s investment committee, Mr. Sobeck has directed investments in over 25 private equity funds, as well as numerous direct co-investments and secondary investments. In addition to his role on the investment committee, Mr. Sobeck is integrally involved with the firm’s investor relations and capital raising efforts, as well as overseeing 747 Capital’s summer internship program. Prior to joining 747 Capital, Mr. Sobeck was a product manager at Citadon, where he managed product marketing and development activities for Citadon’s platform of web-based collaboration software.

Hunter Somerville, Senior Associate, Greenspring

Previously, Mr. Somerville was an Associate for Camden Partners in the Camden Private Capital Fund of Funds Group. While at Camden Private Capital, he conducted due diligence and monitored fund investments across venture capital, growth equity, debt and buyout segments. Prior to that, Mr. Somerville worked at Venable L.L.P. in the litigation division with a focus on products and personal liability defense. He received his M.B.A at the Robert H. Smith School of Business with a concentration in Finance and Strategy. Nicolas Sorensen, CIO, Corfo, Chilean Economic Development Agency

Since September 2010, Nicolas Sorensen has acted as the Investment Manager at CORFO, the Chilean Economic Development Agency. He is responsible for managing the agency's Investment Funds and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship within them, developing unique programs that will impact the industry.

Prior to his appointment as CORFO’s Investment Manager, Mr. Sorensen worked for seven years in the Banking Industry, managing risk evaluation and credit approval.

He is also an entrepreneur, having co-founded with his brother in 2007 a small chain of beauty salons with three locations in Santiago. On the academic side, he was an Assistant Professor in several courses such as Accounting, International Business, Finance and Financial Statement Analysis at Universidad de Los Andes and the Universidad Catolica. Currently he dictates the course Entrepreneurship as a Professor in Universidad de Los Andes.

In 2010, he was selected to participate as a Board Director in the Chilean Babson Alumni Club for his outstanding contributions in the development of Babson Alumni’s activities in Chile. He was recently awarded by Babson College as the 2012 “Distinguished Recent MBA Alumni Award” in recognition for his outstanding service to the College and leadership as a recent Alumnus. Born in Santiago, Chile, Mr. Sorensen holds a Business Administration degree with a Major in Management from the Universidad de Los Andes de Chile, and an MBA from Babson College.

Kenny Springfield, Managing Director, Perot Investments

Kenny Springfield is with Perot Investments, a family investment office based in Dallas, Texas. Perot Investments invest in a broad range of investments which includes but not limited to investments in public securities, investments in fund managers and providing creative flexible capital solutions via debt (first or second lien) or equity investments.

Mr. Springfield oversees and coordinates Perot’s investments in Private Equity funds and is responsible for screening and selecting Private Equity investment managers. He also sources, negotiates and structures investment opportunities across all the Perot investment platforms and maintains a proactive network within the capital markets community. Prior to joining Perot Investments, Mr. Springfield was in charge of the Dallas office for GoldenTree Asset Management where his responsibilities included sourcing, structuring and negotiating transactions from $50MM to $250MM. Mr. Springfield is also an alumni of GE Capital as Team Leader in charge of new business, portfolio acquisitions and asset management.

Mr. Springfield has over 30 years of commercial finance experience in direct lending, distressed debt, origination, structuring, acquisitions, underwriting, due diligence and asset management. Mr. Springfield is a graduate of the University of North Texas and also holds an M.B.A in Corporate Finance.

Matthew Stadtmauer is a Managing Member and the President of Pine Grove Asset Management. He joined Pine Grove in September 2010. Previously, Mr. Stadtmauer was with UBP Asset Management (“UBPAM”) (2002-2010) where he was the Chief Executive Officer and was responsible for non-investment activities of the firm. Prior to becoming the CEO in 2008, Mr. Stadtmauer was UBPAM’s Chief Marketing Officer and led the firm’s marketing and business development efforts for over six years. Prior to joining UBPAM in 2002, Mr. Stadtmauer was a Vice President at Salomon Smith Barney's Managed Futures Division. In his role, his responsibilities included sales and marketing of all Salomon Smith Barney's proprietary managed futures funds. Prior to joining Salomon Smith Barney in 1997, Mr. Stadtmauer worked at Mellon Private Asset Management (Boston Safe Deposit & Trust Company) as a Portfolio Administrator for its New York division. CHRIS STANTON joined Sunrise in 2012 and currently serves as a Partner and Portfolio Manager, as well as well as a member of Sunrise’s Management Committee. Prior to joining Sunrise, Stanton traded extensively in a wide range of global commodity and currency markets as Vice President and Portfolio Manager for Deerhurst Capital Management and as Capital Markets Officer for JP Morgan. In those roles, Stanton managed multi-million dollar portfolios and conducted all market and fundamental risk analysis for those portfolios. In addition, he provided broad finance-related legal and risk management services while working as an attorney with two prestigious global law firms, Quinn, Emannuel, Urquhart & Sullivan LLP and Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York City. Stanton holds a J.D. cum laude from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Lehigh University.

He has more than 10 years of diverse financial and investment experience. Mr. Stepan is also responsible for portfolio management and investment sourcing. Prior to joining CFM, he was a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch. Mark Suster joined Upfront Ventures (formerly known as GRP Partners) in 2007 after having worked with GRP for nearly 8 years as a two-time entrepreneur. Most recently Mr. Suster was Vice President, Product Management at Salesforce.com (NASDAQ: CRM) following its acquisition of Koral, where Mr. Suster was Founder and CEO. Prior to Koral, Mr. Suster was Founder and CEO of BuildOnline, the largest independent global content collaboration company focused on the engineering and construction sectors, which was acquired by SWORD Group (PARIS: SWP). Earlier in his career, Mr. Suster spent nearly ten years working for Accenture in Europe, Japan and the U.S.

Mr. Suster received a BA in Economics from the University of California, San Diego, and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He grew up in the U.S. and is also a citizen of the UK.

In the current portfolio, Mr. Suster sits on the Boards of Ad.ly, Awe.sm, Burstly, GumGum and Ring Revenue and is a Board Observer of Qualys.
